Year 3 Summer 2 Week 2
Well done year 3 for another amazing week at school!
In English this week, we worked really hard using our skills of choosing the correct determiner (a or an) and using simple past tense in our writing. We also finished our research and biography write about Boudicca! Next week we will be moving on to performance poetry!
In maths this week, we continued our topic of shape. We have been looking at parallel lines, perpendicular lines and the features of 2D and 3D shapes!
In science this week, we continued our work on curious critters. We went around the school playground investigating different microhabitats and what insects may be living in them!
In history this week, we looked closely at Boudicca’s rebellion against the Roman Empire. This really helped us gain more facts to write in our Boudica biography’s.
This afternoon, as part of our Healthy Eating topic in PSHE, year 3 got the chance to chop up slices of watermelon and feta cheese! We all have a great time enjoying a healthy snack!
As always please continue to read 5 times a week and play on TTRS for 5 minutes a time, 5 times a week.
Please also see attached the spellings for this week!
Just a reminder that our PSHE topic this half term is 'relationships' and year 3 are focusing on touch. As we will be covering this topic, we will be looking at the scientific names for private body parts. If you have any questions please speak to Miss Bates.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Year 3 Summer 2 Week 1
Well done year 3 for a fantastic week at school!
In English this week, we have started our new topic of biography writing about Boudica. We have focused on our key skills of choosing the correct determiner (a or an) as well as simple past tense.
In maths this week, we started our new topic of shape. We have been learning about turns and angles, specifically right angles and comparing other angles to these.
In science this week, we have started our new topic of 'curious critters' for science week and had a brilliant time making a fact file about either a butterfly, a ladybird or a fly. We gathered information about their habitat, diet and lifespan and presented this in our books.
In history this week, we have continued with our topic 'Emperors and Empires'. We focused this week on the causes of the roman invasions.
We had a brilliant assembly today hosted by Fizz Pop which showed us lots of fun experiments and the science behind them! This assembly was funded by the donations made from Space Day!
As always please continue to read 5 times a week and play on TTRS for 5 minutes a time, 5 times a week.
Please also see attached the spellings for this week and the homework map and newsletter for our final half term of year 3!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Year 3 Summer 1 Week 6
Well done year 3 for a brilliant week at school!
We have been very busy this week finishing off our maths topic of 'time' and preparing for our new topic after half term: 'shape'. We have also had a fantastic time celebrating National Numeracy Day where we answered the question 'How many times in a minute?' and completed different activities such as jumping, cube building, writing our names etc.
In English this week, we have finished our battle cry speech from the perspective of Boudicca, focusing on using rule of three and imperative verbs to make those listening want to go to battle with us. We also had a brilliant time reading these out to the rest of the class, using our oracy skills to bring these speeches to life!
In science this week, we went on a seed hunt! We scoured the school grounds to find different types of seeds and drew these in our books - we found lots more than we expected!
We had a brilliant time completing our orienteering day which involved us working our way through cones and using a map of the school to locate different numbers and corresponding letters.
Please see attached some pictures from our fun week at school as well as our spellings for the week we are back from half term!
We hope you have a lovely week off and we will see you back at school on Tuesday 2nd June!
